Facility-Based Care Transportation
Edward Ambulance Services provides various levels of integrated transportation services including Critical Care Transport, Advanced Life Support, Basic Life Support, and Non-Emergency Medical Transport.
The Critical Care Transport Team is staffed by 2 Critical Care Paramedics. Critical Care Paramedics have at least 2 years ALS experience and have completed a university-accredited critical care training program (CCEMTP, CCP). All staff remains current in standards of care and are certified in ACLS, PALS, NRP, and Trauma. The Critical Care Transport Team has advanced medical guidelines and equipment which allow the team to transport patients with:
- Specialized Cardiac Equipment
- Advanced Airway Management
- Advanced Medication Needs
- Ventilator Capability
- 12 Lead Capacity
- External Pacing Abilities
- IV Medication Infusions
- Hemodynamic Monitoring
- Automatic Blood Pressure Monitoring
- Myocardial Infraction, Stroke, Trauma
Advanced Life Support ambulances are staffed with two Paramedics or a paramedic and an experienced EMT. ALS ambulances respond to emergency and non-emergency requests for transport. Paramedics have a scope of practice includes:
- Intravenous therapy
- Advanced drug administration
- Paramedics – ACLS Certified
- Cardiac Monitoring
- Infusion Pumps
- Advanced Airway Management
- Medication Monitoring and Administration
- Multiple IV Medication Infusions
- Emergency Response
Basic Life Support ambulances are staffed with 2 Emergency Medical Technician (EMT’s). EMT’s perform a patient assessment and basic non-invasive interventions during the course of a transport. Examples of BLS equipment include:
- Pulse oximetry
Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) - Glucometer
- Bleeding Control
- Nebulizer Kits
- Emergency Medical Technicians
- Basic Airway Management
- Oxygen Monitoring
- Standard First Aid Equipment
- Emergency Response
Non-Emergency Wheelchair Transportation
Edward Ambulance also serves customers who use wheelchairs and other clients with special needs.
All of our wheelchair vans are equipped with rear-loading hydraulic lifts, wheelchair locks and floor straps to help secure our passengers. The high-top feature on our vehicles provides easier access for our clients and accommodates a variety of wheelchairs, while helping ensure a comfortable ride. Our drivers take a defensive driving course and undergo training in the transportation of wheelchair-bound clients.
